This is held every Saturday morning throughout the year on the 3G pitch at Glossopdale Community College (Hadfield Site), Newshaw Lane, Hadfield, Glossop, SK13 2DA, starting at 10.00 and finishing at 12.00. Anyone who wishes to attend the Soccer School can come along on any Saturday morning and start that day, all you need to do is complete the player contact details form and then register.

“If players want to improve their ability at football the Soccer School is the place to be, we guarantee that we can help you become a better footballer” The Soccer School was started on the 17th November 2007, the main reason behind this was to provided a place where all local children could receive quality coaching in football techniques in a totally inclusive environment, on the first Saturday we had 5 players in attendance, the numbers attending on a weekly basis have grown significantly and we now use the whole of the 3G area each Saturday morning for our four groups of players.

The Soccer Schools coaching plan has been devised by a UEFA B qualified coach who has been at the club for the last 11 years, he has formulated a structured program of coaching sessions that takes the players through all the major areas of the footballing spectrum. We have four different groups of players which allows us to ensure that everyone trains with players of a similar age and ability, all the groups follow the same training topic each week. At the end of each Saturday morning football session the coaches select a “player of the week” from each of the four groups, they are presented with a trophy for them to keep until the following week, if players manage to win this award 6 times they are then presented with a football for them to keep.

“The Soccer School provides the opportunity for participants to progress into one of the boys and girls teams for Glossop North End”

The Soccer School is the main focal point on developing players for the club and in particularly for our younger age groups, each season we select our youngest age group team from the players at the Soccer School, we also look at attendees of all ages and have found a large number of players for many different age groups at the club, the Soccer School provides the opportunity for participants to progress into one of the boys and girls teams for Glossop North End. All the coaches at the Soccer School are FA qualified and have had CRB checks, the cost for the 2 hour session each Saturday morning is £4.00, discounts are given to siblings, please ask on the day, If anyone has any questions regarding anything connected with the Soccer School please contact Dave Symons on 0794 745 2039.

Independent comments on the Soccer School.

“The soccer school is a brilliant community session which is open to everyone, the coaching received by Dave and his team of assistants is 1st class and they have a great rapour with the kids.  This session is instrumental to the development of young footballers in the area, and provides a natural progression into one of the teams when players are ready. The emphasis really is on fun and developing a true love for the game.”

"My son attended the Soccer School from its inception.  He has developed as a player thanks to the excellent coaching skills of the team.  In addition to that it gives all boys and girls the opportunity to join the club and hopefully move into a team as they develop.  The balance between teaching skills and having fun is exactly right.  Thanks for all you have done."
Mr C Halton.

“I have been taking my two sons aged 4 and 6 to the soccer school from week one to the present day, they are now aged 6 and 8 and still attend. The warm welcome and friendliness shown to all the kids by Dave and his team of coaches is fantastic. All the kids really enjoy the coaching whilst also learning at the same time, especially the younger age groups where great care is taken to ensure that they are comfortable, and also learning good basic skills. It is a great environment to introduce the kids to football for the first time, or for the older kids improve on skills and get top quality coaching in a fun and safe environment.”
Mr B Valentine.

“My daughter loves going to the soccer school, she has really improved as a footballer and she has gained a lot of confidence from all the positive comments she gets, all the coaches are really nice and make all the kids feel really welcome, keep up all the good work guys.”
Mr A Oakes.

“My son has been at the soccer school for around 10 months, on the first Saturday he went I thought the level of coaching was good but the more I have seen of the sessions the more impressed I am, the coaches provided great guidance and advice to all the boys and girls, their enthusiasm for the game is there for all to see, I would highly recommend the soccer school to anyone who wanted their child to learn how to play football.”
Mr I Bradbury.

Both my boys love their Saturday football , Since going they have both excelled not only with football skills but with confidence too, The coaches are very helpful and  understanding of each child’s capability making sure they learn but have fun doing so.

Mrs L O’Neil.

The soccer school caters for both boys and girls from the age of  4 upwards. The children are trained for a couple of hours each Saturday by FA qualified coaches on basic football techniques using well planned drills usually followed by a short game. All abilities are welcomed and even after just a few weeks a massive improvement can be seen in the child’s performance and confidence with the ball. During the sessions it is stressed that having a good attitude is as important as learning the ball skills and this factor goes some way to selecting the player of the week who receives a trophy until the next session. Overall it is one of the best run clubs in the area and in a couple of years has grown from a handful of kids to over 50 attending the sessions. Yet even with the larger numbers the coaches still manage to focus on the individual children with tips on how to improve their game. For any parent who wants to encourage their children to start a sport this is a great starting point.
